70s inspired city wedding in Bristol | Bristol Elopement Photographer

From rooftop vintage rockets to draped mini dresses, this styled shoot was designed to get the hearts of every retro loving couple racing.

The concept was built around my love of the 70s, then contrasted with modern city twists, supported by the best of Bristol’s local business, it made for a truly unique day. Bright British florals, individual shaggy cakes made for two, retro rockets and stationary as epic as the couple were all on the agenda for the day, reflective of the effortless cool vibe I was going for. And, that was just the setting. Not to mention the playful makeup and laid back attire that the couple oh so effortlessly pulled off.

Our bride wears a satin, draped mini dress with strap sandals with a retro infused pattern for the day and later slips into a pair of blue, block heel boots - perfect for walking the city streets in style! Our groom isn’t a regular groom, he’s a cool groom. Hence, the classic black suit, open shirt and not so traditional silk neck tie for the ceremony. Of course he then throws on a checked tweed jacket and some sunnies for the celebrations because that’s how the effortlessly cool do it. It’s true that often men can feel limited by their choices of wedding attire, especially those with taste a little outside of the box. So, the choice of a necktie was completely intentional to demonstrate that your wedding is the perfect day to dress in a way that pleases you and no-one else, especially if it's an elopement!

Designed to showcase the best of Bristol, we chose to shoot in 3 culture-rich and characterful locations around the city. The first being Brooks Guesthouse, more specifically their ultra 70s rooftop vintage rockets. With incredible views of Bristol as a backdrop to these retro icons, it was the perfect location to celebrate the up and coming nature of the city as well as reflect the laidback energy of the couple. Literally. Bristol Registry Office served as the backdrop to our classic wedding shots and the more sentimental moments that give the wedding gallery the feeling of nostalgia and moments to remember. The city centre streets were our final location, colourful corners, bold graffiti and artisan shop fronts matched and enhanced the playful energy of the couple as well as playing green screen to the memories of the couple on their day.
